Cape Codgers' First Tournament

Congrats to Cape Cod Shark Attack 50s for winning It Ain't Over Til Its Over Cape Codgers Inaugural Soft Ball Tournament held Saturday and Sunday Oct. 4 and 5 in Falmouth MA.

We had a beautiful Fall weekend of great competitive softball in Falmouth MA, as the Cape Codgers hosted our Inaugural Senior Softball Tournament. We hosted 4 teams including the Cape Cod Shark Attack, the HT Seniors, One More, and The Cape Cod Sentinels 60s team.

Great ball was played all weekend at Alietta Field on Rt. 151 in Falmouth by all the teams. Shark Attack, led by the Codger's own Brian Cookson, managed to an undefeated record. Codgers on the roster included Martin Lara, Bob Dumais, Billy Matta, Dave O'Connell, Sean O'Beirne, Joey Ferreira, Bob Ferreira, and John Murphy. The team went undefeated through the entire tournament, with gutsy defense and relentless hitting!

To round out the 50s Division, we included the Cape Cod Sentinels, a 60s tournament team, who received accolades for being competitive in this younger Division. Led by the Codger's own Bruce Netherwood and Scott Puopolo, the team also included Codgers Paul Bassick, Greg Towers, Mike Morano, Gary Kurtz, Mark Favulli, Nick Mazzoni, Ken McCarthy and Rick Leitao.

By all accounts, this was a successful first tournament sponsored by the Codgers. The teams asked us to do this again and they are anxious to hype it in their individual circles. Professional, efficient, and friendly, on a beautiful Cape Cod Fall weekend, the Codgers received rave reviews.
