Kevin Casey Obituary

On August 26th we laid to rest our longtime Senior Softball Codger brother Kevin Casey with a distinguished ceremony with full military honors at the Bourne National Cemetery: Kevin was a decorated Army veteran, with 30 years of service, he was a pillar in the community as a volunteer and helped many who were in need, or maybe they just needed a friend to talk to, but most important of all he was a role model and dedicated Father to his son Evan... his family and friends loved him deeply as evidenced by the outstanding amount of love and respect he received - we honor and salute you Command Sergeant Major

In 1961 Kevin enlisted and went on to serve over three decades in the US Army Reserve. Among a great many accomplishments, he completed Airborne School, Special Forces Qualification, Pathfinder and Jump Master Schools, Jungle Warfare School in Panama, Northern Warfare training in Alaska, and trained with the 23 SAS(R) along Hadrian’s Wall in Northern England. Over 25 years of his service was with A Company 1st Bn 11th Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Ft. Devens, MA. He also served in the 94th ARCOM during Desert Shield/Storm before retiring as a Command Sergeant Major from the 3/18th, 187th Infantry Brigade. During his time in service Kevin travelled around the globe, completed over 200 Airborne jumps, earned Jump Wings from three partner nations, and made scores of lifelong friends.
