FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
You don't have to be an "all star" to join the league. All you really need to be is, well, a “Codger “ ... that is, a 50+ year old man or 40+ year old woman who
loves Softball and would like to play the game on beautiful Cape Cod. Our mantra is 'Fun and Friendship’. We love to compete and our league has grown to 14 teams in two divisions. We play a full summer season schedule with playoffs in both divisions, a smaller Fall season and we go indoors in the winter for pickup games.
How often do you play?
The Codger's regular season runs from May to early September, including playoffs. Each team plays about 20 games, depending on their division. During the summer, league games are typically held once or twice a week starting at 5:30 or 5:45 PM. Fall and Winter Ball, plus other activities continue all year long.
Do I have to be a good athlete/softball player to join?
No! We have all levels of ability in the league and we try to organize teams in such a way that they are evenly matched. We currently have 2 divisions of play with different playing abilities.
Regular Cape Codger league games are played by all player levels and, quite frankly, are the most fun!
Are you looking for players only?
Definitely not! We invite our friends that are interested in coaching, score-keeping and umpiring. Additionally, people with any organizational ability that would like to be part of the league are very welcome!!
Is there a membership fee/dues?Are there other costs?
For Summer 2026 the dues are $150 for a full time player, $75 for a Pool-Player-Only. For Fall Ball 2025 it was full time player $75, Pool-Player-Only $40. Non players (scorekeepers, umps, etc.) are not charged dues. Dues fund team activities and equipment. Hats and shirts are included- they are paid for by our generous sponsors!
